A new knitting novel, by Ann Hood, The Knitting Circle,   is now at bookstores. Ann Hood is an award-winning
author, and this story is loosely based upon her own life crisis.  Hood conveys the positive power of knitting and
its ability to rescue us in our darkest hours.
This book review taken from page 10 of   KnitSimple, spring/summer   2007

Leslye Solomon has knitting videos, and the following information is taken from her Handknitter’s Guide to
Sweater Finishing video.

Leslye’s formula for spacing buttonholes is to count the number of ROWS from the bottom button to the top
button. Divide the SPACES into that number and that answer equals the number of ROWS between buttons.

If using 7 buttons there would be 6 spaces, etc.  To determine how many buttons to use, she suggests just
placing them on the front band until it looks good to the knitter.  Then decide where the knitter wants the top and
bottom button to be placed (just eyeball it). When you know where the top and bottom button will be placed work
the above formula.
Knitters Review, the FREE  weekly on-line newsletter has a one skein Silk Rhapsody by Artyarns shawl in their
April 12th issue.  Go to http://www.knittersreview.com/

Patternworks 2006 Holiday Update Catalog, pg. 72 knitting tip.  When you are ready to finish your sweater, but
there are about 8 million yarn ends to work, in the fastest tool is a simple latch hook.  Thread the tip through
several nearby stitches and latch onto the yarn end and pull it through.    ( now why didn’t I think of that )
